Focus HR Solutions – HR Officer (Jersey)

As our business continues to expand, we’re on the lookout for a dynamic and driven HR Officer to join our team in Jersey.  The successful candidate will be working with our Senior HR Consultant, Head of Jersey to support our varied, Jersey based, clients. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous HR experience and an understanding of local Jersey employment law who is eager to venture into a career in HR consultancy.

Role overview

Providing timely and efficient HR solutions to our clients, assisting our consultants with HR administration.  This role is supporting our Head of Jersey, providing services predominantly to our Jersey client base and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will work mostly remotely with some occasional on-site client work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with HR and recruitment administration for clients as required by the HR consultants and directors
  • Undertaking pre-employment screening and processing leavers administration
  • Maintaining the client vacancy file and spreadsheet whilst ensuring client vacancies are advertised and maintained as requested
  • Training administration, booking and correspondence
  • Licence and permit applications, liaising and correspondence with housing and monitoring and updating employee permits as required
  • HR reporting on absence, holiday, trends etc and assisting consultants with board reports as required
  • Preparing letters and employee correspondence
  • Maintenance of client employee data on Breathe
  • Liaising with employee benefit providers and benefits administration
  • Attending client meetings as note taker and preparing meeting notes
  • HR filing, database maintenance and document management
  • Updating HR diaries, scheduling necessary reminders and following up on deadlines
  • Setting up of new clients on our systems and sending out our terms and proposals
  • Accompanying our HR Consultants or Directors at client meetings as required
  • Keeping up to date with employment trends, local legislation and best practise guidelines
  • Annual archiving review, destroying data which is deemed out of date (as advised by Directors)
  • Promoting the business and maximising on any PR or development opportunities
  • Generally assisting the team as required

Qualifications

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
  • Relevant CIPD qualifications

Experience and Skills

  • Previous/relevant experience working within a human resources position
  • Highly confidential and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills via phone, email and face to face
  • The ability to juggle tasks and prioritise effectively
  • A confident, self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to use initiative
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Good IT skills

Reports to:  Senior HR Consultant, Head of Jersey

We offer flexibility in hours and the ability to work remotely, with occasional on-site visits to client locations and colleague collaborations. There may also be occasional travel to Guernsey required.
