Our client, FNBCI are looking for an Operational Specialist who is a locally based individual responsible for supporting operational execution, regulatory oversight, and risk management within the Channel Islands business.
The role provides dedicated oversight of outsourced service providers, supports credit governance, and strengthens key internal and external stakeholder relationships. This is a specialist, non‑people‑manager role focused on operational execution, compliance, and risk, representing a critical capability for the Channel Islands business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on regulatory expectations relating to the oversight of material outsourced service providers
- Own and manage service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual performance to mitigate operational risk
- Support local credit governance through judgemental credit
- Strengthen client and stakeholder relationships, including internal stakeholders such as the Trust company (FNBIT)
- Support the delivery of exceptional internal and external service through proactive, innovative, and appropriate solutions
- Ensure ongoing compliance with internal governance frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Take accountability for own professional development and continuous skills enhancement
- Provide cover for team members where necessary
- Conduct ad hoc duties and special projects as appropriate
Professional Qualifications & Minimum Relevant Experience
- 5 GCSES, equivalent grade C or above, including English and Math
- Minimum 2 years experience in transferable fields
Skills & Knowledge
Key areas are as follows:-
- Comprehensive knowledge of fiduciary services practice.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of the subject in order to explain both the concept and principles to clients, staff and Group representatives.
- Knowledge of investment products, and principles of accountancy, commercial law and asset management.
- Strength in written and spoken communication and maintaining Group relations.
- Software skills in Excel, Word and other internal software systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of compliance issues, internal procedures and rules.
- Specialist role responsible for regulatory oversight of material outsourced service providers, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation and contractual performance
- Provides independent, judgemental credit approvals to support robust governance as local credit activities are introduced
- Acts as a key operational control and regulatory anchor for the Channel Islands business
- Supports Sales and Service teams by strengthening client relationship management and improving client experience, including for FNBIT clients
- Operates with a strong compliance, risk and governance focus, leading through influence rather than people management
