Overview
Reporting to the Head of Compliance and Financial Crime, the AML/CDD Officer will primarily support Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Client Due Diligence (CDD) reviews, as well as investor onboarding projects for private equity funds advised by Apax Partners LLP, for which Apax Partners Guernsey Limited (APG) acts as the Nominated Firm.
The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure compliance with all relevant AML/CFT regulations and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of CDD requirements for prospective investors.
- Liaise with the Investor Services team and external legal advisers to gather and verify required documentation.
- Collate, review, and analyse CDD information; follow up with investors and counterparties on outstanding items or additional requirements.
- Perform screening using online databases and tools to identify sanctions exposure or adverse media.
- Prepare and complete risk assessments for review and approval by the Compliance Officer and senior management.
- Carry out periodic CDD file reviews in accordance with the Company’s AML policies.
- Manage and prioritise workloads to meet critical deadlines, particularly around fund closings and distributions requiring CDD clearance.
- Review and enhance internal financial crime prevention procedures and documentation to maintain a best-in-class compliance framework.
- Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holds or is pursuing a relevant compliance qualification (e.g., ICA, ACAMS, CISI, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in CDD, remediation, or client onboarding.
- Previous experience within a regulated financial services environment, preferably fund administration or investment management.
Skills and Attributes
- Proven experience conducting CDD reviews and risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of Guernsey’s regulatory and AML/CFT framework, including the GFSC Handbook.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive in resolving issues.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel).
